After you secured your housing, you still will need to make sure your utilities (electric, gas, water, trash, internet, and TV) will be ready to go when you move in.

The University of Delaware has various maps online that includes an index of buildings and special keys denoting the University Visitors Center and visitor parking, as well as dining facilities, residence halls, UD Bookstore locations, restrooms, public telephones, and the city’s municipal parking lots.
A refundable deposit is required to open an electric account. For information on connection/disconnection of service, billing questions, or customer service inquiries, you may call Utility Billing at (302) 366-7085 between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
To report a power outage or emergency involving electric services, call 366-7050 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekdays. On weekends or holidays, or after 5:00 p.m. on weekdays, call 366-7000 to report electric service emergencies.
Refuse collection services are provided twice weekly at no cost to Newark residents. Refuse should be placed curbside in watertight, 20-30 gallon bags or containers with lids and handles by 7:00 a.m. on the morning of collection. The maximum weight of bags or containers should not exceed 40 pounds. For further information, please call 366-7045.
